I am based in Seattle but grew up in New Hampshire, or what I like to call The Shire. My name Big Stretch Studio is inspired by my beloved cat Simon. Unfortunately he is no longer with us but his spirited legacy lives on in my work and I am incredibly grateful to be able to express my time with him through a medium I love. I create to process for my self and to inspire others to connect with their lived environment.

My formal education is in Earth and Space Studies and Secondary Ed, which I used to teach 9th grade science for two years and promptly burnt out. I have since pivoted to making art full time and encourage you to join my journey. I will one day return to teaching but it will be from the comfort of my studio and entourage of furry friends.

A lot of my work revolves around animals and our relationship to them both in positive and negative capacities. My inspiration comes from the many books I read as well. If you are interested in my book list of want to recommend a book please follow me on goodreads @ Morgan Chantler.
